Wheel excavator is gradually developed based on chain bucket excavator, single bucket excavator, and other mining equipment. It is an ideal multi-bucket excavator in continuous operation equipment and one of the largest complete sets of excavation equipment in the world. So, do you know the structural characteristics and development of the excavator machine?

Here is the content list:

  • An introduction to the structural features of the wheel excavator.

An introduction to the structural features of the wheel excavator.

Wheel excavator is mainly composed of 6 parts: walking system, slewing system, working system, conveying system, electric drive system, and hydraulic system, its main features are: First, walking system: most wheel excavators use a crawler-type walking system, and a few use a walking system. From the relevant information, most medium and mini excavators use double tracks, while the large wheel excavators use multiple tracks (three tracks or four tracks), which can reduce the specific pressure of the equipment on the ground. Second, the slewing system: Consists of a turntable and a slewing drive device. The turntable has a power device, a drive device, a control device, and a control room. Due to the use of a slewing support bearing, the drive device can make the turntable rotate 360° around the vertical axis. Third, the working system: is composed of a bucket wheel, boom, luffing mechanism, and driving device. The bucket wheel is installed at the front end of the boom, which is a rotating wheel with several buckets evenly distributed. The rear end of the boom is hinged on the gantry of the turntable, and the boom is rotated by a wire rope or a hydraulic cylinder so that the bucket wheel can perform excavation operations on different working surfaces. There are two main types of boom lengths: fixed and retractable. The bucket wheel drive device is composed of an electric motor, safety coupling, reducer, etc., and is arranged on the side of the front end of the boom to drive the bucket wheel to rotate. Fourth, the conveying system: consists of a receiving conveyor belt, a hopper, and a discharging conveyor belt. In addition, the connecting bridge wheel excavator is also equipped with a transfer conveyor belt on the connecting bridge. Fifth, electric drive system: Except some small wheel excavators use diesel generator sets, other wheel excavators use external power converter sets. Sixth, hydraulic system: mainly use a hydraulic cylinder to drive the bucket wheel arm and the unloading arm to lift.

How is the development of the wheel excavator?

As early as the early days of 19, Western Europe began to try continuous excavation equipment in lignite open-pit mines. The initial form was chain bucket excavators. Later, single bucket excavators and ring wheel excavators appeared one after another. A mini digger excavator is a combination of various excavators. It was initially developed based on the advantages of this kind of excavator. Relevant information shows that the research on wheel excavators started in Germany in 1913, and the first orbital wheel excavator was officially put into use in the Bergwitz lignite open pit in 1916 to carry out the operation of stripping the covering layer. There is a swivel platform that combines the continuous excavation principle of a chain bucket excavator with the flexibility of a mechanical single bucket excavator. Around 1919, Germany built the first crawler wheel excavator with a diesel engine in the middle, which could only dig up the stacked materials. In 1925, the first wheel excavator for open-pit mining was manufactured. This machine is used to excavate the interlayer in the middle of a sand or coal seam. The unloading arm can be rotated within a certain range. The bucket capacity is 0.075m3. In 1931, ATG Company produced wheel excavators with bucket capacities of 0.06, 0.09, and 0.15m3 respectively. In 1937, a wheel excavator with six tracks was put into use at the Golepa mine owned by the Berlin Electric Company, which was the earliest of the later developed giant wheel excavators. At the end of the 1940s, because the wheel excavator could continuously excavate a large amount, corresponding high-efficiency conveying equipment was developed. Improvements to common train transportation methods.

In the 1950s, the wheel excavator had a new development in various countries. Medium and small wheel excavators have developed rapidly. In 1956, Germany first successfully developed a large wheel excavator with a daily production capacity of 10X104m³; in 1975, the former Federal Republic of Germany developed a 20X104m³/day wheel excavator; in 1977, it developed a 24X104m³/day giant wheel excavator, which is about 1300 tons, which was the largest wheel excavator in the world in the early 1980s. A total of 5 machines are used in the Hambach Lignite Opencast Mine in Germany. The production capacity, overall dimensions, and service quality of the machines are the largest in the world. Germany is developing an excavator mini digger with a daily production capacity of 30X104m³/day to 50X104m³/day. In recent years, in some industrialized countries, such as Germany, the United States, Russia, the Czech Republic, Austria, etc., wheel excavators have developed rapidly and have been widely used. Products, its various wheel excavator products have been widely used in open pit coal mines in nearly 40 countries around the world.
